Theme:
Leveraging the Power of Disruptive Technologies for Africa’s Educational Transformation

Welcome Message from the Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria.

Dear Delegates

It is my pleasure to warmly welcome you to MoodleMoot Africa 2025, proudly hosted by the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in partnership with Moodle and the MoodleMoot Africa Association in the vibrant city of Abuja.

As one of Africa’s largest open and distance learning institutions, NOUN is honoured to convene this transformative gathering of educators, developers, researchers, and innovators committed to advancing digital learning across the continent.

This year’s theme, “Leveraging the Power of Disruptive Technologies for Africa’s Educational Transformation,” reflects the urgent need to reimagine education through technology that is inclusive, flexible, and learner-focused.

At NOUN, we believe in the power of open-source platforms like Moodle to bridge educational gaps and empower both institutions and individuals to thrive in a digitally connected world.

We are excited to host thought-provoking sessions, practical workshops, and networking opportunities that will spark ideas and inspire collaboration. Whether you are a seasoned Moodle user or exploring its possibilities for the first time, we invite you to join us in shaping the future of education in Africa and beyond.

Welcome to MoodleMoot Africa 2025. Welcome to Abuja, Nigeria.

Background and Rationale

Africa stands at a pivotal moment in its educational journey, as disruptive technologies redefine the landscape of teaching and learning across the continent. The rapid adoption of digital platforms, is enabling African institutions to transcend traditional barriers. However, the continent also faces unique challenges, including disparities in connectivity, limited resources, and the need for contextually relevant solutions. By leveraging Moodle and other disruptive technologies, African educators, policymakers, and technologists can collaboratively build resilient digital ecosystems that foster equity, drive workforce readiness, and ensure data security and sovereignty. This conference provides a timely platform for the pan-African education community to share experiences, showcase innovations, and develop strategies for harnessing disruptive technologies—anchored by Moodle—to transform education. Through dialogue, capacity building, and partnership, the event aims to accelerate Africa’s educational transformation in alignment with continental development goals and the demands of the 21st-century economy.
